I like Vampire Knight a whole lot. It takes it in turns to be really pretty and really adorable. Here is some of the stuff volume 6 contains:
- Canon straight romance (shocking)
- Canon gay romance (Aido's thing for Kaname is adorable)
- Subtexty lesbian romance (SOMEONE FIC YUKI/YORI NOW PLEASE PLEASE)
- Actual more girls
- Absurdly pretty hair
- Way-too-adorable kids
- Stupidly attractive administrators
- Amnesia
- Hot 19th century fashions*
- Unusually deep feelings
- A situation involving a heterochromic child with paralyzing kiss powers which may or may not all be an elaborate plot to get close to a girl

Apparently I have some internet on this vacation. I must use these powers for good!
...And by good I apparently mean whining about Shonen Jump. Eh, close enough.
So, SPHFWLKaiB finally showed up in Bleach. You can probably imagine my reaction. But. Butbutbut. They spelled his name as one word - Szayelaporro, like that. I know that's probably closer to the original, and since the speech bubbles are so narrow it shows up as hyphenated anyway, which is almost like two words. So I really have no reason to be upset about this. But idk, man, I just think it looks dumb. Some other spellings they have that bug me are "Nnoitora" (I know it's not that different, but still) and (are you ready for this one?) "Cirucci Sanderwicci". Sanderwicci? What is she, a BLT? Dude, "Thunderwitch" is possibly the coolest last name ever. You can't screw that up. D: You know what, I think I am just going to be one of those people I hate who ignores canon and spells people's names however she darn well pleases. Like heck I'm giving up "Thunderwitch".
While I'm here, I suppose I should say something briefly about the other mangas in Shonen Jump. Because I can.
Naruto: I really like how Naruto calls Yondaime "Pa". They could have gone with "Dad" so easily, but I like "Pa" better. It gives him character. And it's cute. Pain was a cute kid.
One Piece: Nami/Vivi is so canon. Mr. 2 Bon-chan is amazing.
Ultimo: O.A. must love this series. There is no way Jealousy is a boy.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Natsume is surprisingly attractive. I like seeing all those people from forever ago.
Tegami Bachi: I would probably like this series better if the people didn't have such stupid names. Two words: Jiggy Pepper. Niche makes it worth reading, though. She's great. Also I like the term "Letter Bee". Reminds me of Smellerbee. Or Linda Ellerbee.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: I don't care.

I know I really shouldn't be squeeing so much over this pairing, considering it's from a cheesy '90s cartoon that's only good anymore for making hilarious YTPs. But. Um. Sonic and Robotnik get married (sequence starts 5:43ish). While Sonic is in drag. And Sonic kisses Robotnik five times. And then licks cake off him. @_@ And that's not even getting into all the show's other gay implications, like Tails calling a guy hot in the same episode. Or all the totally, totally canon Scratch/Grounder. "You gorgeous hunk of high-tech" indeed. Oh, AoStH. If you keep being this slashy, I may actually have to start watching.
Also, I'm sure old news is old, but it looks like we're getting some Scandinavia up in the Hetalia anime! Including Norway, Denmark, and Iceland! Which means they're actually getting canon personalities! Awesome! The only worrisome thing is that I've seen everyone's voice actors listed except Finland. I hope that doesn't mean he's not going to be there. I mean you can't have Sweden without Finland! *waves SuFin flag*

I was going to make this part of a larger post, because I'm pretty sure no one cares, but then I realized that I had nothing else to post. So, uh, Lucas is out for AB and Tenho is in. Lucas's shirt was pretty impossible to find anyway (somehow ;A;), so this is probably for the best. I can find all Tenho's stuff on Amazon or probably in a store and he doesn't even need a wig. ~*~*~LAZY COSPLAY~*~*~

W-why did I have to find Axis Powers Hetalia scanlations at 11 last night ;_; US/UK? Sweden/Finland? Germany/Italy? Russia/Lithuania? YES PLZ. And who knew France, Austria, Canada, America, and heck, even UK were such good-looking guys? (Poland kinda gets on my nerves though.)

You know, I've never really held my childhood sacred. So when people do things like Rule 34 Pokémon or whatever, that doesn't bother me. But finding out that Abraham Lincoln thought blacks were inferior to whites? That's really depressing. D:

You know, I actually didn't come into 1776 with any slash expectations, but Jefferson/Adams is really, really canon. Just... "But, Mr. Adams". That whole scene. "But I burn, Mr. A!" "So do I, Mr. J!" And when Jefferson's leaning over Adams on the stairs, their faces get so close. That's got to be my second favorite they're-totally-making-out-even-though-their-mouths-don't-actually-touch scene, ever. (The first, of course, being David Bowie and Mick Jagger in Dancing in the Street (about 1:18-1:20). Normally I'm a Bowie/Mercury shipper, but to borrow a phrase from Mr. Adams, good GOD.) Unfortunately, the Jefferson/Adams doesn't go much of anywhere after that song, but trust me, that's plenty.
1776 is an excellent movie, by the way. And play, I assume, since the movie seems very faithful (heck, it even kept all of the songs). I can't remember ever having such a strong urge to watch a movie again. Unfortunately, I returned it to the library. But still. Great acting, great music, great historical accuracy. I recommend it highly. |

A little context here: I'm in school posting on LJ while my friends kill each other in Brawl. Life is sweet. :D
So, what I did during the past month or so: Was emo, wasn't emo, got into more fandoms (Code Geass is AWESOME), got into more webcomics (Order of the Stick is AWESOME). Also, finally watched Quantum Leap for the first time. Where has that show been all my life? (And where has Scott Bakula been all my life? Mmm.)
For those of you who are geeks and wear clothing, I've found some great online stores: ThinkGeek and mental_floss. mental_floss has a smaller collection mainly involving famous dead people, while ThinkGeek has more general geek fare, including popular culture and memes. They're both worth checking out.

Well, off to catch up on friends-only entries.

The thing about Degrassi is that it's Canadian. Which is excellent, but the accent can throw you off. When they're in the middle of a dramatic scene and someone goes "You don't know what you're talking aboot" or "I'm soarry", you have to pause and go "oh they're Canadian lol" and then get back into the scene. No, but seriously, Degrassi is a great show and I totally have a crush on Rick. :\

Has anyone ever thought of "Flannell" as a portmanteau for Flansburgh and Linnell? Not necessarily in a shippy way (although I do ship them wth D:) - I just thought it was somewhat clever. Of course, they already do have several serviceable collective names, like, say, "They Might Be Giants". :\
...Dang it, now I want to read some TMBG fic. Does anyone even write that stuff? D:
