Things that have made me ridiculously happy in the past 24 (more or less) hours:
- Hetalia Day 2009 with my dork friends
- Seeing the Astro Boy movie immediately afterward with said dork friends
- Szayel's dub voice fffffff
- The answer to the New York Times acrostic (if you've done it you'll know why)
Also, I have been playing Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia a whole lot lately. (And I still have to actually pay Momo for it at some point. ._.;;) I really like this game. It's not a "true" Pokémon game, sure, but it's gotten me to care about the storyline and characters more than any other Pokémon game's done. And the writing is hilarious. If any Pokémon fans out there are looking for something to occupy themselves while waiting for HG/SS, you could really do a lot worse. |

First of all, LESS THAN 24 HOURS TILL AB. *hyperventilates* Although I'm not really the most excited right now 'cause I realized I spent a fair amount of time/money on my costumes and they're pretty crappy. Oh well. Costumes are done except Light's shoes, btw. On the plus side, there'll be another Death Note photoshoot on Sunday (although... it may be during Cosplay Chess), and we have a team for Hyakunin Kuizu, which I've never done before, so if we get in, that should be cool. :B
Okay, something else. I just found out that Jian Ghomeshi (formerly of Moxy Früvous (which is a good band, btw; check them out if you like Barenaked Ladies)) is such a cutie. I mean, look at the guy. He's like Zach Braff if someone injected cuteness into him. Also, you know who else famous person is attractive? Johannes Brahms. For serious. (When he was younger, anyway.) Stop being so cute, famous dead composers. :|
Also, I just found out that Ash Ketchum's name in French is Sacha. For some reason that's really cute. |

Okay, I know I have been outraged about a lot of stuff in here lately. But this one is seriously legitimate: the girl player character in HG/SS will not be the one from Crystal. I - what? Seriously? No. I dunno if it's just because she was the first girl or what, but the Crystal girl is my favorite out of every player character. They're not replacing the guy (although imo his new design is pretty terrible), so why replace her? Plus, I really, really dislike the new one's design as well. Look at those overalls. She looks like Mario! And what's with that hat? Fffffff I know I shouldn't get so worked up about something like this, but I'm really crushed here. I guess if I can't get used to her in the end I'll just play as the guy, new design notwithstanding. :\
Plus the Death Note photoshoot's been moved to 12 on Friday, so we won't be able to even catch the tail end. And Vaarsuvius from Order of the Stick stopped being hot. And I'm tired. So yeah, pretty bad times all around. |

Also, apparently there is an actual attack called Star Gentle Uterus. Wow. Maybe I should be glad I never actually watched Sailor Moon.
In Pokémon news, if this were first-gen I'd've beat the game. As it is, 300 or so to go. (Maybe I should dig up my old Yellow and try it there? I bet it'd be a breeze in comparison.) Also got that second Trainer Card star, many thanks to Yuki.

I'm sure everyone who cares has heard this already but butbutbut I absolutely had to spaz about it as well because THEY ARE REMAKING GOLD AND SILVER. *.* Yeah, as you may or may not know Generation II is my absolute favorite generation. DO WANT, SO BADLY.
No updates re: my game except I got a Cranidos. Sato also learned Thunder, so I really should evolve him sometime.
Does it bother anyone else that all the starters (except Pikachu) have a 7-to-1 male-female ratio? I mean, presumably half-ish of the players are girls, and maybe some of them would want to start with a girl Pokémon. Heck, I bet some guys also would. Well. Maybe next generation. Also, some of the Platinum sprites look really stupid. Just sayin'. (And these are only the first ones I came across. Trust me, there's tons more.)
And finally, more random Pokémon trivia Bulbapedia has taught me: Chimchar is the only starter (except Pikachu) who isn't based on an egg-laying animal. (I mean, all Pokémon lay eggs anyway, but.) I was going to say "That can't be right!", but I went through all of them and yup, apparently we really are that low on mammalian starters. (Cyndaquil's also a mammal, but apparently it's an echidna.) Just... never noticed that before. |

I'm sorry, but if Hetalia does the entirety of "Cleaning Out the Storage" in English with those godawful accents, I may have to watch it on mute or something. Which is a shame, because it's a really powerful scene. It's like, I mean, I guess it makes sense to have countries actually speaking their own language, but then if they can't actually speak it very well, it's a little hard to suspend disbelief. Plus, why isn't Lithuania speaking Lithuanian then? "THEN I'LL GO MAKE SOME. COFFEE FOR YOU" indeed.
Also, Sato finally evolved. Just, y'know, if anyone cared. Also I hit 200 hours, and caught Cresselia, and discovered the wonders of the Underground. The Wonder Underground. Currently trying to get all the fossil Pokés - I've got Omanyte, Kabuto and Lileep so far. Lol I don't know why I'm going on about Pokémon. Probably because I forgot how to actually say anything important. :|
OH WAIT. Somehow I didn't know before about this, but the Haruhi Suzumiya dub dubbed God Knows. And it sounds good. Yes. YES. I love you dubs. |

I just realized that I accidentally leveled my Pichu way beyond where he would actually learn any good moves as a Pikachu. And he's still not happy enough. I GOT YOU A MASSAGE, SATO YOU STUPID JERK. >:| Does anyone who knows Pokémon know if he's beyond hope at this point and I should get a new one? (He's level 30.) Or any good ways to make him happy quickly? I want a Pikachu. :| |

You know, I've never really held my childhood sacred. So when people do things like Rule 34 Pokémon or whatever, that doesn't bother me. But finding out that Abraham Lincoln thought blacks were inferior to whites? That's really depressing. D:

Apparently there is a tree called the Garry Oak. I'm sorry. That's hilarious.
Also, I guess none of the other language Pokéraps changed the order, although I'm still not sure why. But I really like the weird voices they do in the French one. :\
And, uh, apparently I forgot to post Leap Year birthday wishes to the two characters whose birthdays I can actually remember. Sorry, Kabuto and Hani-sempai. Happy fifth birthdays or whatever. |

Um. So you know the Team Rocket song? Apparently it appeared in the show. On the one hand, I thought I knew the tune from somewhere. On the other...I don't remember seeing this. D: I like how they adapted it into English. I also like how James is subtly crossdressing. :D
Other observations:
- Probably the best version of the TR song that I've seen is the Italian one.
- Officer Jenny is "Officer Rocky" in German. I can't take that seriously at all.
- The Jigglypuff song is really pretty in German (though it's also quite pretty in English).
- Although for some reason Jigglypuff still says Jigglypuff, even though her name is Pummeluff. Then again, English Charizards and Onixes still say "Lizardon" and "Iwark", apparently, so.
- The German Pokérap does not change the order. So it really doesn't rhyme. Even though they could do that really easily. :\
- Is English the only language that came up with new songs?
Also, this. Watch it. You will thank me. Or possibly be really disturbed. (I can't decide whether I prefer that version or this one.)
And if anyone gets what I did with the "my music" thing, then...you're awesome. :D |
